Community Energy Newham (CEN) is opening its second Community Share Offer soon. And you are invited to get involved! What we are raising and why
- CEN is raising £140,000 to bring the solar panels installed on two Newham schools into community ownership.

- Panels are already in place on Godwin Junior School and St Stephen’s Primary School generating clean electicity and cutting bills.
- Over their lifetime the panels will cut the borough’s carbon emissions and raise money to fund community initiatives.
Make a difference. Not just an investment.
We expect investment to start at as little as £50*, and for investors to receive a target 3% RETURN. Investors also:
- Become a member of Newham’s first community-owned energy co-operative and have a voice in how we create a greener and fairer energy system in the borough
- Generate clean energy that costs less and cuts the borough’s carbon emissions
- Be part of building green job skills in Newham and giving more people a part in creating a low-carbon future.

The Community Energy Newham Story
Community Energy Newham (CEN) was created by a group of Newham residents. With the support of Repowering London, they co-created the co-operative’s name, values and priorities and assembled a team of founding directors. CEN’s mission is to develop community-owned and democratically led sustainable energy projects that empower the local community and reduce carbon emissions and to build a clean, local and affordable energy future for everyone in Newham. In 2025 the co-op completed its first successful share offer, raising £120,000 to bring solar panels on three libraries into community ownership.

Meet our powerful partners
CEN is supported by Repowering London, a social enterprise that specialises in co-creating and supporting community energy projects. Repowering London has a successful track record of seeding 10 energy co-operatives across London and is using the expertise it has gained over the years to help CEN accomplish its mission.
In partnership with Newham Council, Repowering London has developed and installed a solar pipeline of sites across Newham, deploying its award-winning financial tool Repowering Finance.
