City of London Community Energy
About this project
Local residents are Repowering London successfully secured grant funding from the Mayor of London and the City Bridge Trust to establish the City of London's first community-owned energy cooperative, CoLCE. The first project is to install 50 kWp of solar generation capacity on the Middlesex Street Estate in the Portsoken Ward. The model is based on existing successful projects delivered by Repowering London in Brixton, Vauxhall and North Kensington. The proximity to wealthy businesses could benefit to the cooperative and attract donations from corporates in the City of London.
Our aims are to generate clean green energy, tackle climate change, create a community fund, provide training for young people and offer a local ethical investment.
The project is no longer reliant on the Feed-in-Tariff, which removes the time constraints to complete the installation by March 2020. It can now be planned at a pace to suit the cooperative, and in relation to the planned roofing works.
If you would like to get involved or learn more about the project, please contact Dave or Eva at email@example.com or call us on 0203 674 7519.
